From Our Tongue, We Curse and We Praise

quickly, i forget the precious moment of basking in God’s presence. yesterday evening, i cried because of His presence, oh! the abundant joy and the longing to be with Him  were swelling within my heart and brought forth tears of gratitude and thankfulness. this afternoon, i cried because one hurting word and the self-pitiness and anger brought the gush of resentment out of my wounded heart.

as tiny as it may seem, it causes one to stumble. and satan snatches this opportunity to create division among God’s people. i vowed to not let satan near any territory of my life…and if it ever does…like in this circumstance, i will draw even nearer to Jesus and does whatever He wants me to do to defeat the evil and bring it to utter despair.

“I said, “I will watch my ways
and keep my tongue from sin;
I will put a muzzle on my mouth
as long as the wicked are in my presence.” Psalm 39:1

“May my tongue sing of your word,
  for all your commands are righteous.” Psalm 119:172

5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.

9With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. 11Can both fresh water and salt[a] water flow from the same spring? 12My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.” James 3:5-6, 9-12

Such tiny organ of the body but with it comes great destruction.

    I love your transparency before God and us!

    Good post Mink!! It always happens, that when I have a really close and personal experience with the LORD, satan attacks and my emotions take a real nose dive. We have to remember our God is bigger and and in control. Sometimes I just go to His word and read and pray and pray some more to get past it. God know our hearts and that is where he is looking. I thank you for your openness. The scripture you quoted is one of my favorites. Our tongues are the smallest, but most important part of our bodies, they and be extremely good or evil, depends on us.

    Mink, you are awesome. Don’t let anyone make you think otherwise 🙂
