A Cheerful Heart

laughter filled the room as we took turn drawing our friends’ body parts. somehow what we see ourselves is completely different from what others do. and it gave me such joy to see each one of us joyfully drew God’s beauty on colorful construction paper.

i will have to scan the picture and put it up on here next week.

we had not laughed so hard for a very long time. so as we roared and rolled on the floor, i was brought to thinking about verses in proverbs regarding cheerful heart.

“A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.” (proverbs 15:13)

“All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.” (proverbs 15:15)

“A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.” (proverbs 15:30)

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (proverbs 17:22)

i found that as i opened myself to the Spirit, He began pouring abundant joy in my heart. even in the hardest circumstance, i could face it with uplifted spirit.

this week may have been long and tense. but a half and hour full of laughter of my colleagues have washed away all the stress.

joy is there. we just need to reach out and claim it our own. 🙂

have a cheerful weekend.

p.s. i am going to practice being a farmer tomorrow. it is a rice-planting day. hopefully, i will be able to post some pictures when i get back.

a boy i met at a bangkok slum...his laugh was contagious!
