“God, i’ve done so much today. but it doesn’t seem there was anything accomplished. no one has seen what i’d done. why am i still doing what i do? where is the reward?”
have you ever questioned Him?
i have. by the end of a long day, sitting in quiet corner, filled with weariness…tears threatening to fall…i wondered aloud if there was anything good or useful coming out of my deeds.
people keep drinking, wasting their money on gambling tables, plunging themselves into worldly indulgences…and ignoring the Gospel. there is no change. no one sees…no one knows. why then am i doing what i do? why keep serving when there seems to be no sudden reward?
i. am. tired.
in the eyes of the world, christians are fools. we serve the unseen God…who doesn’t seem to care much. empty stomachs struggle to find food on their tables. disasters continue to destroy lives. people’s hearts are hardened…and He doesn’t seem to care…or else He would have done something to change their minds. a lot of times, we as servants of God question that too, don’t we? are we that foolish?
“but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,” 1 corinthians 1:27-28
who said christian life would be easy anyway? there are a lot of potholes, thistles and thorns, road blocks and walls to break through. often, we are kept occupied by these obstacles that we forget why we started the journey in the first place. there has to be something behind the wall…something worth the fight. what is it for you?
for me, it is that moment when i stand before Jesus face to face. oh, how my heart longs to meet Him in person. but before that time comes, He has given me 2 Commandments and 1 Commission. love Him and His people. preach the Gospel and make disciples.
this is why i live. for the glory of God be manifested in this world. there may be no acknowledgement or appreciation but we know that He sees everything. once our feet step across the threshold of heaven, we will be crowned as princes and princesses…with Jesus.
that’s something to look forward to, isn’t it?
