i was out on a trip to a village called choklo in tak province. it took us 2 days. we drove for 4 hours to mae sariang district, a quiet and laid-back town in mae hong son province and stayed over night there.
then we left early at 6 in the morning to make our way to “ta song yang” district where the project is located. it took another 4 hours to get there. it was foggy and rainy most of the day…which was to our slight dismay and much excitement. the road was muddy and slippery. eventually we made it to the project where we were greeted by 30-40 children.
we visited with the sponsored child and her family, had lunch and left at 2:00pm..way too early to leave for such long ride but way too late if we wanted to get back in chiang-mai in a decent hour. so with lots of hugs and goodbyes, we drove out of the project with 5 men in the back to put more weight on our four-wheel drive. see, it continued to pour…heavily, i must add, throughout the day and the road became more adventurous!
this time, we were stuck in the mud. the men had to jump out of the truck, strung the rope to the front of the car and pulled…hard. i was in awe as i watched. i never thought it would be possible! while the men pulled, i prayed. eventually, with such expert’s skill, p.boontong, our driver, and the 5 men pulled the truck out of the mud! wheww…
from the moment we left the project to the time we arrived in chiang-mai, it was 7 and a half hours in total. it is easier to say that i spent only 4 hours OUT of the truck…and the rest of the time was spent on the road.
i thank God nonetheless. my back aches. my legs and arms are sore. my ring finger got cut by some unidentifiable item…and it’s painful. but i choose thanksgiving and joy. for what is the use of complaint anyway?
i am heading to bed now. i decided not to unpack anything since i am traveling to bangkok tomorrow night. this week is going to be a challenge to my health. but pray, will you, that i may abide in Christ and let Him lead me every step of the way?
i will post the pictures from the trip tomorrow. stay tuned! 🙂

“You have put more joy in my heart than they who have when their grain and wine abound. in peace i will both lie down and sleep; for You alone, o Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
