amidst the turmoil in my heart; while trying to hold the fort when storms pass through life, the voice of the Lord breaks out, “BE STILL”.
oh, His voice…the gentle whisper…the powerful command…the authoritative teaching…the pleading…made on our behalf. how soothing to know that we are His beloved.
the voice of the Lord:
- is over the waters
- is powerful
- is majestic
- breaks the cedars of lebanon into pieces
- makes lebanon skip like a calf
- makes sirion (mount hermon) like a young wild ox
- strikes with flashes of lightning
- shakes the desert
- twists the oaks
- and strips forests bare
sitting comfortably in one of the teak wood pews at church, His cross stood right in front of me, i was humbled by God’s surpassing power and sovereignty.
remembering a particular moment on a mountain top. the sun whispered goodnight and pale stars shyly appeared across the great canvas, i could do nothing but sat stunned and marveled at the beauty of Jesus. tears sparkled against the silhouette of solid mountains, i brokenly gave thanks for the life He has given.
the memories sustain me in this hour of confusion and fear. i am peter, hearing Jesus says, “don’t be afraid. it is I.” i am being beckoned to come to Him. but the war that is raging reminded me of my failure. and i cowered with fear. “i can’t do this”, i say.
“come, for i am ‘the Lord (who) sits enthroned over the flood; (who) is enthroned as King forever. the Lord (who) gives strength to His people; (who) blesses His people with peace.” (psalm 29:10-11)
great is the power of God! i am invited to step out of the castle’s gate to wage war against Satan and his allies with my King. enemies will vanquish. fears will vanish. for with God, even just with His voice, there is victory.
