Before I went to lunch, I stopped briefly to check my mailbox, which usually was empty.
Today, I spotted something unusual – a small parcel tucked neatly in the box. And I recalled the conversation I had with mom the other day:
“You know, today we made a batch of chocolate chip cookies, with real chips, mind you.” said mom in her proud tone.
(A little back ground here, for the past coupld of times, we only used chunks of chocolate or m&ms instead of the real chips because it was very expensive and hard to find. Somehow my middle sister managed to get a pack of it.)
Me, a little downcast as I was being very homesick and disappointed that I didn’t get to join the fun, replied, “Wahhh, that’s so unfair! Y’all need to send me a parcel.”
Of course, that was a tease. I didn’t expect her to ship 4 pieces of cookies to me in a parcel….
But…she did…
Mom’s love comes in all forms, including 4 cookies in a parcel.
It always puts a smile on my gloomy days. Now I just hope that it will stay fresh for a few more days.
